December 7, 2013 1:42 PM Or Applied Intuition? Yesterday I was driving home from work, listening to Funny 1060. Commercials were on, so I was half paying attention but they were announcing upcoming musical acts coming to Calgary and I thought I heard it said that Moist was coming to Calgary. "Hmm," I thought to myself, "I wonder if that means David Usher is back in Moist? I'd go see them in concert..." And as I started reminiscing about one of the bands that became a foundational pillar in my formative years, I began to sing (if one could call it that) the chorus of Silver. The more I remembered, the more I longed to listen. And then it hit me. It was a strange sensation, less of an "I wonder if" and more of an "I just know." I switched to FM and pressed the preset number for CJAY 92. I bet you can't guess what song was just starting to play... And so, backed by the original, convoluted, confusing, nonsensical yet beautiful lyrics sung by the original artists, Moist and I sang Silver as my little truck bounced along homeward over bumps and ruts in a road that won't be plowed till spring. Kristi and I are going to see the new Hunger Games movie tonight. She is absolutely ecstatic, and I must say I'm about as excited to see a movie over this one as I have probably ever been. She has the advantage in having read the books, while I'm enjoying the ignorant glee of not having a clue what will happen in this installment of the story. BACK to Journal Index |
